Beatles, The/Sgt. Pepper Picture Disc
Expert: James Michael Anderson - 6/3/2008
QuestionHi Michael,
I have a picture disc of Sgt Pepper in a plain plastic sleeve. No info on the sleeve and no cardboard cover to refer to. The disc is in great condition. Never played by me and no visible blemishes.
I have noticed while looking online that a lot of the picture discs have a picture that is more of a cropped image whereas mine is more faithful to the original cover art. All 4 beatles are visible on the left side and part of the "Welcome the Rolling Stones" doll is visible on the right. There is blue at the top and the full flower arangement is visible at the bottom. The only info on the disc is on the inner "dead wax" area. Side one says "PHO 7027 A" and "For George and Mabel". Side 2 says "PHO 7027 B 1" and Another Winner from Ernie".
I was wondering if you had any idea which pressing this is and how much it might be worth.
Times are tough and I may need to start selling off some of my goodies so I may be bothering you with additional questions in the near future.
Thanks,
Carol
AnswerHi -
That is a second pressing and is worth anywhere from $20-$100. However, without the cover to go with it, you're probably closer to the lower range. The first pressing had a cardboard cover which completed the entire Sgt. Pepper picture and the second pressing was just black cardboard with a couple designs on it.
eBay is your best bet for something like that and ensuring you get what the market would pay. Just do a search for "Sgt. Pepper vinyl picture"
