Question
My friend is giving a party for 69 year old Beatles fan.  Wanting to know what were their favorite candies? or any candy related to the group.  (its to give out as "favors" or any other suggestions to make this party special theme.  Thanks

Answer
Hi Janey!

Great question! Well, once the Beatles were being interviewed and George said how much he (they all) just loved "jelly babies" which are jelly beans in the US. He later said that was a huge mistake because from that point on, they were constantly being pelted with them onstage whenever they appeared. There are a few famous pictures of them where you can see the candy flying through the air. Other than that, John was a self-admitted chocolate freak. Even when he was eating a macrobiotic diet in the 70's, he still couldn't stay away from it. Once, while recording one of his solo albums, someone gave him a 5 pound bar of Hershey's and he ate the entire thing. As rich as he was, he still preferred Hershey's chocolate. He also adored "Chocolate Olivers", which is a sort of chocolate covered cookie that you can only get at Harrod's in London. They also ate a lot of hard candy, such as "barley sweets", which were particularly abundant in the north of England when they were growing up. I hope this helps you create a fab party and thanks for the question!

Peace,
Pattie
