Beatles, The/Beatles magical mystery tour lp mono

Question
I have 2 mono copies of the Beatles lp Magical Mystery Tour both on the typical Capitol record label with the rainbow perimeter. My problem is that the 2 labels are different. The first has normal size printing on the record label but the other one has much smaller print and lists the first song on each side above the spindle hole.I know the mono copies of this LP are much rarer then the stereos. What do I have here? What are the values? Both are in very good condition. Thank you for any information that you can provide.
AnswerHi Robert!
Actually, I no longer do online appraisals. The market for Beatles memorabilia has gone through the roof with price gouging lately and what seems to be a resurgence of "Beatlemania" with the upcoming releases of so many new Beatle things, such as Rock Band. A 45 that sold last year for $10 is selling for $100 this year. You are correct that the mono version is certainly more valuable than the stereo. In fact, MMT was the last LP that the Beatles ever released in the mono format. In order to be even in the ballpark as far as value, I'd need to know the exact condition the record is in (the labels look great!). Your best bet right now is to check eBay, see what other people are getting for the same album in the same condition. I'll say though that if you've got a mint condition copy with the booklet also in mint condition, it's worth over $300. As far as the label variation, I've seen both versions quite often. I believe that the first one you're showing was the original US Capitol release and the second variation is also Capitol but distributed via Apple Records, before they started using the Apple logo. MMT was released in November of 1967 and Apple was founded in January of 1968, so as you see, they was only a matter of months apart. Otherwise, that positioning of song titles was reserved for subsequent stereo releases. I hope this helps.

Pattie
