I have seen an alternate set of Lennon's lyrics to "it's Only Love". What are the

Hi Joe!

I wish I had a quick answer for you on that. I know that I've also seen the alternate lyrics to the song, but it was a long time ago. I've just looked in about 20 of my reference books and it's not listed in any of them. I've sent some feelers out to some of my "Beatle buddies" to see if any of them have them. I can give you some background on the song though. It was often called by John the "worst" song he'd ever written. To quote John, he said "I've always been ashamed of that one because of the abominable lyrics." The working title of it was "That's A Nice Hat" (sometimes cap). Despite his feeling it was a "throw-away" song, written very quickly under pressure to come up with filler for the "Help!" LP, it's been said that he may have been thinking of Cynthia and the problems he was facing in his marriage to her.

As soon as I find any information on those lyrics, I'll send you an update. In the meantime, thanks for the question!
