Beatles, The/a hard days night

Question
I lived in Germany in the early 60's and bought the album
"A Hard Days Night" as soon as it came out. I still have it but have noticed that the album cover (which has multiple images of the boys),was printed with a pink border and not blue.  Is this unusual??
A friend of mine practically passed out when he saw it.

Answer
Hi Linda!

Quite often when an album was being released in different countries, the art would either be slightly different or totally different than what was being released in the "home" country. If you look at some of the covers from Japan, for instance, they look nothing like what you would see in the UK or the states. Many times also, you'll find that the covers from other countries use a different grade of cardboard, making them feel thinner. I've seen the German pressings of "A Hard Day's Night" and there's a reddish/pinkish border around the edges, as well as the grid going around the multiple pictures of the boys. I think there's a green box on there somewhere as well (if it's in stereo). It may even have "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah" written on there somewhere as that was the title of the LP in Germany. So no, it's not unusual as an import piece, but it's still a VERY nice collectible, especially if it's in good shape. Take good care of it. Thanks for the question!

Peace,
Pattie
