Beatles, The/Beatles On Swan
Expert: James Michael Anderson - 1/20/2010
QuestionQUESTION: Hi, I have a 7" 45 rpm record of The Beatles "She Loves You"/ "I'll Get You" on the white with burgundy/wine color print, Swan label.
Side A, "She Loves You" catalog #S-4152-S. Side B, "I'll Get You" catalog #S-4152-1. Both titles have quote marks around them.
The catalog numbers are machine stamped in the dead wax along with a hand etched R on both sides. What can you tell me about this pressing?
I Thank You in advance for your time and effort. Regards, Pete
ANSWER: That is an original record as per the stamp/catalog number. The record came in two different pressings - each has either the Mastering reco-art Phila (machine stamped) or Virtue-Studio which is hand-etched in the run off vinyl with S-4152-1/2. The record will usually fetch about $200-$300 assuming VG+ or greater condition.

QUESTION: Thanks for your very prompt response. My copy does not have the "words" Mastering reco-art Phila or Virtue-Studio fully written out. Instead just the capitol letter "R" and an indiscernible symbol are hand etched in the dead wax. Is this still an original pressing of this title? Thank You so very much. Peace, Pete
AnswerUnfortunately not. All originals have those reco-art or Virtue Studios on them. This would place yours as a counterfit/"reissue" made in either the 70s or 80s. They sold for $40-$50 as "collector's items" but are likely only worth about $10. Sorry for any dissapointment! Thanks for the positive feedback..
