Beatles, The/Beatles lyrics

Question
Nick,
Not sure whether these are lyrics that came from a particular song, or
if they were lyrics that faded in or out of a song.  If I remember it is
part of their later works...maybe white album.  Can you tell me the
title and album?
"Once there was a way to get back homeward,
Once there was a way to get back home.
Sleep little baby, do not cry..and I will sing you a lullaby."
"Boy, You got to carry that weight, carry that weight..."
Thanks

Answer
Hi there Marti.
The song is Golden Slumbers and it's part of Abbey Road side B's medley.
In fact the last verse you're quoting is the first of the following song named "Carry that weight".
(Although lyrics go as "Boy youre'gonna carry that weight")

Here you can find further information:

And here you can listen to the song:

Wonderful McCartney vocal performance...

Hope it helps,

Expertise

I`m an italian Beatle fan who`s been studying, playing, reading The Beatles for more than twentyfive years. I can answer about recording sessions, lyrics, biography, instruments and more. I`ve been playng bass guitar and their music for years and know pretty much about their music and composition. I own a double complete discography (on vinil and on cd) and lots of books about them. I regret not to be so expert about their films and personal careers, but I think I can answer nearly any question about their life and music in the period 1940 - 1970.

Experience

Usually, no Trivia on The Beatles leaves me without words. Moreover I've been playing bass guitar and their music for nearly twenty years and I can discuss on this matter quite deeply. Please no questions about vintage Lps', collectors items' or memorabilia value.
