Beatles, The/Beatles promo red label one sided radio contest
Expert: sarah - 4/5/2010
QuestionMy father was living in Walnut Creek California in the 60's. He won a one sided radio promo Beatles album. I have never seen another one and can't find it with Google. It is in the manila envelope with the radio station address and call sign. The red label on the record says Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. At the bottom of the label it says From THE BEATLES AS HEARD EXCLUSIVELY ON K Y A RADIO, 1260 SAN FRANCISCO. The radio station is listed on the postage as AM KYA "the sound of San Francisco. The record is in a sleeve, between two pieces of cardboard, and shipped in a manila envelope. I would like to know the value and story behind this record.
AnswerHi,
I think you own something of inestimable value. And it is hard to quote a price, really.
I found out that Johnny Holliday wrote a memoir of his life in radio (KIA RADIO of San Francisco), and he did a live broadcast of the Beatles. Infact I found that the station sponsored the original Candlestick 1966 performance.
Hope this helps.
