Beatles, The/The Beatles sound

Question
Hi!

Since you're a musican, maybe you can help me.

I'm new to the whole effects thing, but I got myself a Zoom G2 effects pedal and need a few tips to try and get some Beatles-like sounds from it.

It has a nice setting where it simulates the sound of a Vox AC30 amp, like The Beatles used, but they didn't use just one sound. I was wondering if you knew of any effects I could use, or settings I could tweak, to produce some classic Beatles-like sounds?

I'm aware that unless I use their particular guitars in their particular amps etc, then I'm not going to reproduce the exact sounds, I just want to approximate the sounds.

I'm using a Squire Stagemaster (HSH), which I'm hoping to replace with an Epiphone Casino soon, so that will help with my problem. But in the meantime, any tips you can give will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Chris

Answer
Hi Chris,
at last a question worth to be answered!!!
Well I don't know the Zoom G2 effect you're talking about. I use for my songs pretty much inspired for sounds to the whole original Sixties British Sound (so that not only Beatles' one but also Who's and Stones) the Line 6 Pod which is (for bass sounds too) well.. magical!!. I got a perfect AC30 Sound (and I managed to obtain a 12 strings Rickenbacker sound by doubling an arpeggio!!!) but also a perfect "Revolver" and Sgt Pepper sounds (simulating a guitar into a revolving Leslie speaker if you know what I mean) .. The site of Line 6 provided until some time ago (but I think it still does) some presets made by users (you can download and upload from the site) and transfer them into your Pod)that simulate all the historical sounds (Hendrix, Pink Floyd etc) of authors and songs.
The Pod is very affordable, to be used via midi and has a nice software when you plug into your pc, but can be used also live, and the cost shouldn't be over 300$, but have a check on Ebay I think you can get an used one although I'd suggest to get a new one for the cost is not so high. I have a Pod and a wha-wha and really don't need anything else.. My 1967 Jazz bass and my 1962 Martin acoustic guitar are wonderful by themselves but my electric guitar is very cheap: if you hear it through the Pod it sounds like a wonder! (Anyway I'm fancying to get a Casino too!)
Hope it helps, anyway feel free to ask more. Bye
N.

Expertise

I`m an italian Beatle fan who`s been studying, playing, reading The Beatles for more than twentyfive years. I can answer about recording sessions, lyrics, biography, instruments and more. I`ve been playng bass guitar and their music for years and know pretty much about their music and composition. I own a double complete discography (on vinil and on cd) and lots of books about them. I regret not to be so expert about their films and personal careers, but I think I can answer nearly any question about their life and music in the period 1940 - 1970.

Experience

Usually, no Trivia on The Beatles leaves me without words. Moreover I've been playing bass guitar and their music for nearly twenty years and I can discuss on this matter quite deeply. Please no questions about vintage Lps', collectors items' or memorabilia value.
