Thanks for your response Chalk..i eventually found what i was looking for....

Suggs did a version that fits my memory, i did listen to the beatles version and knew it wasnt the same as i did with the Vines....

This is driving me mad...I know The Beatles sang this orininally..can you tell me who had a more recent release of the same song? Im sure its 90's!

It seems to be by The Vines, Peter, though I don't know the recording myself...

Right. I didn't know that Suggs did it too. Thanks for the info. :o) I know quite a lot about the Beatles themselves, but of course it's impossible to follow all the recordings of all of their songs. However, it's fun trying! ;o)

There was something in Paul's voice when he sang the phrase "Love Me Do" at the end of the verses that told me everything in Pop was going to change, and it did! I left my first band (which I had founded), partly because the other members thought I was a bit weird to want to change our style to reflect that of the Beatles! As a rock musician, I appeared with them in the ABC Theatre in Blackpool, England in 1963, and my songwriting has always been influenced by theirs.
