Question
Where did the inspiration for the revolver album come from. The beatles were great at taking something from past music and making it so incredibly new sounding.

Answer
The only way to find out where inspiration came from is to ask the creators of the music. Don't forget that the creators of the Beatles music were 4 plus 1 - Sir George Martin was their producer, and I'm sure that much of the inspiration came from him.

Many of the ideas for unusual sounds, arrangements and so on would have come from him but, of course, based on the material provided by the songwriters, mainly John & Paul, but also George Harrison. Their songs were immediately new and special - combine that originality with Sir George's ideas, and there's your answer!

As for the details, well, it would be nice if we could speak to him... But that's life! :o) However, you may find articles written by him on the Net - try googling...

There was something in Paul's voice when he sang the phrase "Love Me Do" at the end of the verses that told me everything in Pop was going to change, and it did! I left my first band (which I had founded), partly because the other members thought I was a bit weird to want to change our style to reflect that of the Beatles! As a rock musician, I appeared with them in the ABC Theatre in Blackpool, England in 1963, and my songwriting has always been influenced by theirs.
