Question
Hi

Would you say drugs influenced the Beatles in making SPLHCB or that SPLHCB influenced the drug culture of the 60's, and Why?
Any thoughts would be helpful.
Thank you

Answer
I think that talent and quite a dose of drug influenced the Beatles making SPLHCB. Most songs have a reference to drug, like "Lucy in the sky with diamonds", "fixing a hole", "a day in the life". Mark Lewisohn, the world's foremost experts on the Beatles, remembers that in that period the Beatles used to smoke a strange drug called "Speedball", which was a mixture of cocaine and heroin. So I don't think that SPLHCB influenced the drug culture of that era, but I think it represents well the drug culture which was spreading during those years...
