Question
As the final piano chord of "A Day in the Life" begins to fade, I think I can hear the creaking of a chair. Do you know if someone's chair got picked up in the mics? Whose chair is it?

Answer
Hi, and thanks for your question.

I've heard the chair myself. I don't know who the noise belongs too, though. I think it is more than likely a member of the band who shifted, or got up, from his seat at the piano. I doubt the group would care enough about something so insignificant as to overdub it or redo the  entire piano chord altogether.

My guess is they left it there on purpose as just a little thing to give the song more character. I hope I answered your question, and thanks for asking!

Expertise

I have a somewhat elaborate knowledge of the band`s music and history, from their Hamburg beginnings to their demise in 1970, as well as secondary information from the post-Beatle years.

Experience

I can answer most questions about the Beatles themselves and their albums, as well as some information about the post-Beatle years. I do NOT, however, specialize in concert dates or Beatle memoribilia (i.e. special collector's items, etc.).
