Question
Would have the Beatles wrote for Motown artists like The Supremes or Areatha Frankin and the Tempations and Smokey Robinsion as giving back to the great music that helped them out?
Sven

Answer
Hi, Sven, and sorry for the delay.

I'm not sure if you mean SHOULD they have written for those artists as a kind of thanks - in any case, that would have been their decision - or WOULD they have? That means, given time, would writing for other artists, especially those from whom they took their influences, have interested them?

Well, they began their career writing for others of Brian Epstein's artists, and other singers also sang their songs, but I don't think anyone can know if they'd have gone back to doing that. I would say not, but only Paul can tell us now.

Hope that helps a bit...

Experience

There was something in Paul's voice when he sang the phrase "Love Me Do" at the end of the verses that told me everything in Pop was going to change, and it did! I left my first band (which I had founded), partly because the other members thought I was a bit weird to want to change our style to reflect that of the Beatles! As a rock musician, I appeared with them in the ABC Theatre in Blackpool, England in 1963, and my songwriting has always been influenced by theirs.
