What is Beck`s religion?
Howdy Claire,
Beck's religious beliefs aren't really known to anyone except his close friends, as far as I know. He is Jewish (Yiddish rather than Hebrew), but whether he practices the religion or not, I don't know. There is some speculation that he is a Scientologist (a movement built on the writings of L. Ron Hubbard), but it's just speculation. However, his father was apparently a proclaimed Scientologist, and his mother was assumed to be. I've never really run into overt religious ideas in his songs, except for his covers of old black spirituals ("He's a Mighty Good Leader" "Fourteen Rivers, Fourteen Floods"). If his music were the basis for evaluation, then I would say he leans toward Christianity. He has covered, as I said, black spirituals, as well as, some country ballads with heavy religious overtones. I'm probably not doing justice to your question, though. Sorry.
