Question
is there a alternative you can use instead of beer finings to clearer beer.can you use gelatin and how much  ian

Answer
Ian
    Actually gelatins are beer finings

Liquid Gelatin:

15ml/23 liters(approx 1/2oz./approx 2.5 qts.

place gelatin in hot water,to soften
stir in beer
wait 2 weeks, draw off from the sediment

Dried Gelatin:

1.5gms/23 liters

dissolve in boiling water
stir in beer
wait 2 weeks, draw off from the sediment

I wouldn't use any finings.Process introduces air into the beer, and also the extra step can increase chance of infection. In addition inaccurate additions will remove some compounds that are good for beer flavor and color.

Do it naturally:
remove beer at end of fermentation to a secondary storage
keep the stored beer at 31 to 33 F for 2 to 3 weeks
draw beer off the sediment
