Beer/secondary fermenting

Question
I have a plastic container without a spigot and am considering using a glass carboy for secondary fermenting. Is it okay to open the lid in order to siphon the beer into the secondary vessel

Answer
Yes it is.Siphon the beer slowly, quiet(no splashing)Place the siphon hose at the bottom of the carboy, and to the side of the carboy.Any undue sloshing,or foaming will entrap air into the beer being transferred, and can cause an oxidized tasting beer,by packaging time. The same applies at bottling.
