Beer/Substitute for Budwiser Pilsner-style beer

Question
I have a recipe for Beer-braised beef and onions it calls for 2 12 oz bottles of pilsner-style beer such as budwiser.
If I cannot find that, what can I substitute?
Thanks
Barbara

Answer
For this purpose, almost any mainstream beer will work fine. The only thing you want to avoid in this case would be a highly hopped beer, such as an IPA or similar style.

If you want to get even more great flavor from the dish, try using a dark beer instead of a pilsner style. I would recommend a bock or an oktoberfest style for best results.
