Hi chris...from davis i see.used to live nearby but now in alaska for 30 yrs.question....i've brewed with malt extract syrups but never dry malt extract...what is the procedure...or is it the same with extra water?we get very little out here on the bering sea and it sure is nice to enjoy a nice brew

...and speaking of near Davis, about 10 years ago I attended 4 days of homebrew fantasy camp in Woodland.

Liquid/dry extract brewing are essentially identical except for quantity. If your recipe calls for 10# LME then you'd use 8# DME.

Some LME is pre-hopped, but no DME that I know of is.

Yeah, you will be adding a little extra water, but you do that when you top up to your final volume, same as with LME.
