Question
hi john,
i was wondering if i can brew a fairly decent beer with
inexpensive ingredients .mainly from stuff we have lying
around the house?
eg. treacle, flour,sugar ,nuts, etc.
and maybe purchase the dried malt, which is quite cheap
anyway?
thanks paul

Answer
brewing a decent beer requires malt, hops, brewers yeast, and good water.Sugar can be used as a primer.I would definitely not use treacle.Flour not recommended.Nuts contain too much oil,and would kill beer foam. One can most likely find enough, pots, pans etc,in the average kitchen,to keep equipment purchases to a minimum.
