Beer/Beer Selection

Question
Chris...   Having a "cook out" with corn on the cob along with barbecued short ribs.  Any ideas on beer selections for "beer freaks"?   Also some brands for the "once in a while" crowd.  Thanks.

Sincerely

Tom B.

Answer
Well, Tom, short ribs can stand up to a hearty beer. Don't know where you live so I'm not sure what's available.

My choice would be Arrogant Bastard from Stone Brewing. Sierra Nevada Porter would be nice too. Anything on the darkish, strongish, side would work, depending on how "beer freaky" they might be.

Beer wimps might enjoy Newcastle Brown. Not very exotic but much nicer than US megabrews yet easy drinking.

You might consider finding a store near you that specializes in interesting beer. Find the one person that knows most about beer in the store and have him guide you through the selection that they have available.

If you don't have any luck, let me know and we'll talk some more.

What time should I be at the BBQ?
