Beer/English Pub Glass

Question
Is the authentic or oldest English pint glass the straight edge or the one with the bulge around it near the top?

Answer
I'm not an expert on glassware, but I think it pretty much depends on who you ask.
Traditionally, English pubs were supplied with the glassware by the breweries whose beer they served. That's why so many of them have a brewery's logo on the glass. Some breweries provided the straight ones, some the glass with the bulge near the top, some a tulip shape (some Irish breweries still use this) and some the mug with the handle. Different parts of the country had different beers, since most distribution was local, so you will get different answers depending on where in England you ask the question.

Hope that helps.
