Beer/temp when adding yeast

Question
hi spencer

I just brewed my first batch of beer. I added the yeast to the wort at too high of a temp by accident it was almost 90 degrees. What could that result in, is the batch ruined. Its still in the primary fermentor

Answer
If the beer fermented, you're probably fine.  Yeast, especially dried yeast, can easily handle 90F.  The only likely effect is more "fruity" flavor, and possibly some "hotness" from the warm start.

If it didn't ferment, you should add some more yeast asap, because the time it sits there is an open invitation to bacteria and wild yeast to start growing and produce some really nasty flavors.

So, as we say, relax, don't worry and have a (homebrewed) beer.
