Beginner Investing/Technical Vs. Fundamental Anaysis

Question
Hi Steve,

I am set on doing my own future investing & read where evaluating stocks using both technical & fundamental analysis is sometimes better than only one method.

There must be many books written regarding the subject of fundamental versus technical analysis or how best to incorporate both in investing. From your experience, would you be able to recommend any of the best one(s)? I like Amazon.com reviews but I might miss some that aren't on their site.

Thank you greatly.

Answer
Hi Mike,

I am not sure about books that compare both methods because in many cases people seem to be on one side or the other.

For fundamental analysis, the "bible" is Graham and Dodd's security analysis.  First written in the WWII era, this book is the first read for many people seeking to use fundamentals to value a company.

For technical analysis, many people prefer the work of William O'Neill from Investor's Business Daily.

Other than that, I would recommend checking the amazon reviews as you are already doing or perhaps searching the internets for college course syllabi that may have more informed reading lists.

Best,

Steve
