Question
I read your answer about this old certificate with the Channing Service Corp. seal on the bottom left corner.

You should check to see if Van Kampen Funds has taken over this fund. The people in Las Vegas who you told this certificate was worthless may want to have a second chance!  Cert dated 9/29/67 Mfg. Hanover Trust Co. as custodian.  Are you sure this is worthless?  BERT

Answer
Bert,
Thank you for your question. I don't recall answering any questions about Channing Service Corp, are you sure that was me or perhaps another expert on the site? If it was me, could I trouble you to provide me with the date the question was asked, or a link to pull up the question directly? It doesn't sound like me, as I never would provide a definitive answer that a stock certificate was worthless as there are too many unknowns regarding mergers and aquisitions. I usually do a bit of research myself, if I can find something  I provide it, but if not I then usually provide some additional more indepth research services that can look at an old certificate to see if there is any worth to it. I admit that I do offer the advice that most of the time the additional research and cost yield no result, but there are occassions where it is productive.
Any further information on where you read the question and answer would be helpful, and I would be very willing to take another look at it,

Best Regards,
