Question
I'm a long-term investor and invest primarily in mutual funds. I'm wondering if there is a rule of thumb regarding the number of funds I should be invested in to ensure adequate diversification without an over-proliferation of the number of funds.

Answer
One general fund should be fine. You should stick to one fund group to make your breakpoints. Usually the fund groups allow for discount in the same fund groups. International balanced fund seem to be the way that I would head.
