Beginner Investing/Investing in Stocks

Question
Hello, I'm interested in the stocks as an investment. How would I go about doing this and in what?  How does market in the stocks work?  Can I build up some income from investing?  I have been looking at the Sharebuilder web site. Is this a good place to start?  Anything you can tell me I will appreciate.

Thanks, Martha

Answer
I would recommend that you go to the local library. Look up a large book that is called Morningstar. This is over 2000 pages, and about mutual funds. Funds are composed of stocks and bonds, and most people should stay with well spread risk funds. It is best to do this in person since the information is too large to download and review. This is best to go to the library and read up on the best funds.
