Beginner Investing/Long term investing

Question
Hi!

I have $2000 that I would like to invest. I am interested in finding out the best place to put it for a long term investment-somewhere I can just put it and in 40 years it will be a nice sum. I'm not sure if I will have any extra income to invest routinely, so for now it's just the $2000.  Is there any kind of fund/stock/etc that would fit this?  I'm 25 and basically looking for something of a retirement fund. I have a 401k at work, but I don't know much about it or what to expect from it, so I'm looking to do a bit if individual investing. Any help you can give would be great. Thanks!

Jessica

Answer
Jessica,

Try to look over some of the recommended funds on the http://wfnn.info website, under mutual funds to the left. Several worldwide mutual funds show great performance. They probably will continue to show performance since worldwide markets are down more than USA. Fidelity has a good international fund mentioned on the site.
