1. Please add/include SEMICONDUCTOR MANUFACTURING INTERNATIONAL CORP. (SMI on the NYSE) to the Semiconductor Industry/Sector stocks in your database.
JMICHAEL's REPLY: SMI listed on the NYSE on 17 March 2004. There should be enough data available as I did extensive research prior to investing. LFC and FSL have listed about the same time and I think they are in your database... Perhaps you could contact SMI's ADR bank - CSFB about the data. Also, all financial reports for SMI are available at
http://www.hkex.com.hk/ and
http://www.smics.com ...
2. TSINGTAO BREWERY COMPANY LIMITED - ticker symbols TSGTY & TSGTF on the OTCBB Pinksheeets, 0168 at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and 600600 at the Shanghai Stock Exchange. TSINGTAO was the 1st mainland China Company to successfully list outside of China - at Hong Kong in 1994 and in the U.S. in 96. TSINGTAO and ANHEUSER-BUSCH are partners, with A-B holding 10% of TSINGTAO now. They have an agreement whereby A-B will increase its stake to 28% ownership of TSINGTAO. I have alerted you to TSINGTAO in the past but you ignore my request for inclusion!
JMichael Joyce Replies: TSINGTAO BREWERY is also listed at the HKEX and all financial data is available at
http://www.hkex.com.hk/ and
http://adrbny.com/ ....
3. Why are stocks in your database that are trading for $0.00?
JMichael Joyce Replies: I will get back to you on this...
4. Surely it is possible to add foriegn companys to your database. My interest is China and Europe, not the U.S. An example, look at the FTSE/XINHUA China 25 Index and you will find many major companys that trade at the HKEX and NYSE/NASDAQ. Another idea is to look at www.adrbny.com and add to your database all the foriegn companys that are BONY's American Depository Receipts. This seems very simple to do for me... This would give your subscribers more bang for their bucks!
Jmichael Joyce Replies: Great!!!
I look forward to your reply.

Thank you for your question regarding ValuEngine's research and services! I will take them one by one:
1. We can't simply add a stock to the database. The only reason that it would not already be there is that we do not have enough data to cover it. For example, five years of history, or analyst coverage to mention just two requirements of the dozens that exist. Should enough data become available for ValuEngine to cover SMI, it would automatically appear.
2. We generally do not cover OTCBB stocks as again the issue is if there is complete enough data for us to cover. Should the data become available for the models to run their complete analysis, it would automatically appear.
3. The only reason that any stock would appear as $0 is if that is the price that came down in the data feed from our quote provider. This does happen rarely if there is a problem, and normally corrects itself in a few minutes or hours. If you notice this happening repeatedly, I could greatly appreciate further information so that we could look into it right away.
4. It is actually not easy for us to add foreign companies into our database. Each market around the world is different, and we cannot simply apply our current models to foreign markets and expect the same success. For example, quality data for China is non-existant. Any model that covers China would have to essentially use pricing history only, and therefore would differ greatly from our US models.
However, we agree with you regarding the potential for covering other markets. Work is underway to cover four major Asian markets (including China). Each will have its own distinct modeling system, and be contained in seperate subscription products. It is a big project. The research for the models is just about done, but the work to build out websites and subscription products to offer this has not yet begun. It could be up to a year before our Asian effort is fully operational. Once that is complete, we will turn to Europe, and then finally South America.

AnswerThank you for the follow up and continued interest in ValuEngine! I have forwarded the ticker SMI for our data provider to look into, we are missing something for it to not be covered. Does the company have analyst coverage? That is one of our required data points, we are checking. If it is possible, it will be added.
Please do not hesitate to follow up with me if I can be of any additional service!
