QuestionI am extremely intrested in buying stocks and bonds but I have no Idea where to get started. I have been recently (the past month) tracking certain stocks through the USA today. I am concerned about where to get started. If you could just refer a few websites or books even where I could find info on how to get started on the right foot. Thank you so much!
AnswerKelvin,
I recommend people to stocks if they can afford 10 different stocks with 100 shares each. I do not believe people should be investing in stocks for fewer than 10 different stocks in 10 different sectors.
Mutual funds are better for most people since they contain more than 10 different companies and spread the risk. You might try starting to read on this subject at the free site of
http://wfnn.info and go to your local library. At the library, there is usually a copy of Valueline and Morningstar. I would recommend that you read these two to start. Again, I think stocks can be exciting, but they appear in the professionally managed mutual fund.
