Question
I recently sold my house and paid off all of my debt with the profit. I have about $4000 left and would like to invest it in a way that will help me save/earn money for a down payment on a new home in 1 to 2 years. What do you think I should do with it? Thanks for your help.

Answer
Simple savings account in the bank is best. You might try money market funds at the bank also. You could also consider US Savings bonds, found only the the bank. I do not like the stock market or mutual fund market right now.
