Belize/belize river tours

Question
I am planning a day in Belize City. I am looking for taking a 1/2 day river boat tour. I know I can;t get too far into the jungle but perhaps a few hours on the river would be fun. Can you tell me any links or info of vendors who do this? I will be stepping off a cruise ship with my wife and won't know anything. please let me know. Thanks.

Answer
Hi Larry,

I would check out Tropical Expeditions, Ltd. I know there are a lot of vendors who cater to cruise ship passengers, but I haven't spent enough time in the city to be familiar with them. It has been my experience that if you are willing to pay, someone will be more than happy to take you wherever you would like to go for as long as you would like to go-you just have to ask. When you disembark in the city, I expect you will find a multitude of tour operators clamoring for your business. You may have to take a taxi (or a tour operator may have to take you) upriver a bit before you could really get started on a boat tour. The inlet, once it enters the city, is less than picturesque and I can't imagine that it would be any nicer when you go further into the city.
Sorry I can't be more helpful!
