Question hi shawn...i am heading to belize city next week and am meeting some friends in placencia. i was looking to catch a local bus but i can`t seem to find one that goes all the way down there. are the roads really that bad? should i just take a flight in from belize city?

Answer Crystal, there isn't a direct bus that I am aware of to Placencia. You would have to travel via Belmopan and down the Hummingbird Highway to Dangriga. From there, you should be able to catch a bus.
It is far easier to catch a local flight to Placencia.
The only bad piece of road you should see is the road on the penninsula itself (its a disaster in some area - I actually drove a Tracker on it last December) and parts of the Southern Highway.
I don't have an address but try looking for the Purple Space Monkey in Placencia on the web. It is an internet cafe that was being built last December by some Canadians there.
