Question
My mother and I are taking a cruise on May 4, 2008.  We are docking for one day in Hamilton and two days in King's Wharf.   We really want to go to Elbow Beach but also want to shop Front Street in Hamilton.   We thought we would go to Elbow Beach when docked in King's Wharf (even though it is farther) because there isn't much to do there, and we will have more time.   How far, and is it difficult to go to Elbow Beach from King's Wharf?   Or should we just do it in Hamilton and check out the stores later?   I want to have things planned ahead of time so we don't waste any time.  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Cheryl,

You're right on with your plan.  If I had three days in Bermuda, as you outline in your query, I'd shop Front Street when I'm in Hamilton.  The shops are literally at your "front door" as you disembark your ship.  And don't be so quick to rule out Kings Wharf "because there isn't much to do there."  The Maritime Museum is fascinating and there are plenty of art galleries and shops to visit.  You can also enjoy water sports and catch a ferry from that location so you'll have plenty of options to choose from.  However, on one of your days at Dockyard (Kings Wharf), as you point out, you could taxi to Elbow Beach which would give you a wonderful glimpse of other parts of Bermuda - what you wouldn't see otherwise.  The taxi ride is easy.  Not difficult at all.  You're wise to plan ahead.  Places in Bermuda really aren't far from each other. This plan is a good one.  Please enjoy your trip and if you have other questions, I'm happy to try and help.  Best Regards,  Nan  PS  Pick up some Bermuda rum cakes while you're in Dockyard.  They make great gifts for folks back home!
