Bermuda/bermuda in May

Question
I am cruising to Bermuda in mid May for my 25th anniversary.  I will be in Kings Wharf for 2 days.  What do you recommend? There are lots of shore excursions but I really don't know what's best or what would be good for this time of year.  I like outdoors, maybe mopeds to get around.  Any advice is helpful.  Thanks

Answer
Hello Laurie,

What a beautiful place to celebrate your anniversary!  Congratulations in advance!  With 2 days in Dockyard (Kings Wharf) you'll have time to visit all of Bermuda.  It's only 22-23 miles long and about 2 miles wide so you can taxi from one end of the other and see beautiful scenery along the way.  Dockyard was home to the British Navy and the Maritime Museum is a must-see.  There is shopping, but not the extent of what you'd find in Hamilton or even St. George.  There is a lively art center, but again, you'd find more to experience in Hamilton.  Since car rentals aren't allowed in Bermuda you might consider renting a scooter, which you can do in Dockyard, but with only 2 days to become comfortable on a double bike (or two single bikes for that matter), I'd opt for taxis and ferries.  (Vehicular and scooter/bike traffic continues to increase in Bermuda so unless you're already a "biker," I'd steer clear of this kind of travel for your own safety and for the safety of others.)  You might find a ferry trip into Hamilton to be an enjoyable way to see the islands and to enjoy another port of call.  Give me more of an idea of the types of things you enjoy doing and I'd be happy to give more recommendations.  For an anniversary dinner, try Fresco's or the Waterloo House in Hamilton.  Or The Reefs on the ocean in Southampton.  Enjoy!  Nan
