Question
Im sailing to bermuda into kings wharf at then end of june and was wondering if you could pass on some advice and suggestions.. Im looking for jets skis, reasobaly priced, where i can get the most time in open water.. I understand the reefs hinder that.. I am just looking for something a lil different than a normal jet ski tour.. Also if you have any suggestiosn as to where the best possible place to snorkle where i might encounter some sea turtles.. and is the snorke park even worth visiting?
Thank you for your time.

Answer
Hello Daniella,

King's Wharf is on the West end of Bermuda.  I cannot comment on he price of renting a jet ski.  However, I would suggest the other end of the island in St. Georges Harbour.  However, one place may be just a good as the other.  You see I'm not a jet skiier so I don't know what one would look for. The harbor is open water but I'm not certain if you mean open ocean.  Matter of fact I don't recall seeing jet skiies in the ocean. When you rent a jet ski in Bermuda it is not a tour.

Perhaps the best place to snokle in Bermuda is Church Bay on the south shore on a calm day.  A tour would bring you no doubt over the reefs for an abundance of tropical fish sightseeing. I enjoy the streatch from Tobacco Bay past Coot Pond to Archilies Bay.  This is on the east end.

Even though I am an avid snorkeler I have not snorkled the park you refer to and will one day.  Bermuda is not the absolute best place to snorkle and is unlike Bonnaire or the Caymans. The only place you will encour a sea turtle is at the aquarium.  Honest.  They are an endangered species and are found further south, perhaps the greater antillies (St. Thomas, Virgin Gorda etc). The loggerheads nest on the east coast of Florida.

Advise/Suggestions:
Do you like to ride a horse?  Spicelands Riding Acadamy.  The trail ride will take you in part along the southshore beaches on gentle horses.

Would you parasail?  This is available in St. George.

Would you feel comfortable on a moped?  The absolute best way to explore Bermuda.

Would you like to buddy up with say another couple from the cruise to make a group or four as to split the cost and rent a BLUE FLAG taxi for a four or six hour tour of the island?

Looking to relax?  Take a trip up to the Country Squire Inn.  All of ten minutes by bus, cab or moped and have a planters punch.

Daniella, I suggest to not put all your desire for a terrific vacation into jet skiing. The beaches along the southshore are perfection to walk and laze. My sugesstion is to take in the serenity of Bermuda.  Its tranquity.  Enjoy the pubs and do take it the Village of St. George.

Call the Bermuda Department of Tourism (800-BERMUDA) and request the Handy Reference Map and Transportation schedule.

Happy planning!
