Bermuda/Beaches

QuestionHi! We are a party of 6 arriving in Bermuda on NCL Dawn on 7/9/08. We are doing Hartley's Helmet dive as soon as we arrive (it's a tradition). I want to visit at least a few beaches that we have not been to yet. We have done Tobacco Bay, Horseshoe Bay, Snorkel Park and Elbow Beach. I'm looking for a beach that has (at least)a bathroom, but one that is not packed with other cruise passengers. I saw a video on You Tube of Shelly Bay beach that looks promising. Could you please recommend a few beaches and advise as to the best method of transportation to and from the ship (in Dockyard). Thank you so much!!!
AnswerHello,
As for a few unpopulated beaches:
Cooper's Island/Clearwater Beach (St. Davids)
Clearwater is the normal beach, but Cooper's Island is a newly opened area that has untouched, very calm beautiful beaches and I would suggest those, for sure. To get there, the number 6 bus, after a transfer from the 10/11, 1, or 3 bus.
They have a rest area and a food area, as well as a playground, etc.
Gates Bay (St. Georges)
This is located by the Fort St. Catherine, and can be reached by a bus going to St. Georges-10/11, 1 or 3. They have a restaurant and bathrooms.
John Smiths Bay (Smiths Parish)
This is a recently redone beach, as there was a hurricane. It has bathrooms, and can be reached by the number 1 bus.
Shelly Bay (Hamilton Parish)
This is a very popular beach, with a different kind of sand, but its a very beautiful beach, and very calm. They also have food, bathrooms, playground, etc. The number 10/11 bus can get you there.
I hope this was helpful!
