Bermuda/one day stay

Question
Our ship is docking at Kings Wharf from 8 am - 5 pm. We have a family of 9
going including a 18 month old. We wanted to go to one of the beaches
preferably horseshoe bay or elbow beach. Would it be possible to take a bus
to the beach, stay there for about 2 hours, and then continue on to Hamilton
for a little shopping and take the ferry back to Kings Wharf. In your opinion,
would we be able to do this in the time we have? Any other suggestions
would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Melissa,

While you don't mention which day of the week you'll be in Dockyard, I believe it's possible for you to enjoy an itinerary as you outline in your note.  Public transportation schedules vary from weekday to weekend and then again from season to season, but my choice would be to take bus (number 7 at either 8:50 M-F or 8:20 Sat) to Horseshoe Bay (around 35 minutes), then into Hamilton (approximately 35 minutes), then take the Blue Route (Sea Express) ferry to Dockyard ($4.00 one way).

Transportation strikes have been known to happen and road construction can always slow things down. I wish all 9 of you could fit into a mini-van/bus taxi cab with an adult next to the driver (but that may be a squeeze).  Most taxis are small vans with a capacity of up to 6.

NOTE:  Pink-topped bus stop poles mean the route is heading into Hamilton; blue-topped poles mean the route is outbound.

Bermuda is very easy to get around and the locals will be happy to assist you if you get confused.  I hope you enjoy your trip!  If you have further questions, I'm happy to help.  Nan
