AnswerHello John,
You will like Bermuda very much. In particular, the southshore beaches. Say, Horseshoe Bay.
Your very best transportation to the Aquarium will be the bus. The transportation department has it down well. I suggest you call the Department of Tourism (1-800-BERMUDA) and request both a Handy Reference Map and the Transportation Schedule to navigate the island and aid in your scheduling. You can expect no problems with tansportation. The brochures will only be helpful.
The island is sectioned off into 14 transportation zones.
The best for your money will be a book of fifteen tickets for 14 zones. You will require one of these 14 Zone tickets, or a token, or cash to get one way to the aquarium, another to return. The book costs $30.00 for fifteen tickets while cash is $4.50, a token is $4.00, and the tickets come out to $2.00 each.
The infants ride free.
If you plan to utilize the bus more often then you may buy books according to your needs. So two books will get your crew to Horseshoe Bay and back with a few left over. After your vacation write me and I'll buy the remaining few.
Do remember to ask the driver upon boarding the bus for a transfer (on your return too). Bus 7 or 8 will take you from the Dockyard to Hamilton where you will have to change to bus 1, 3, 10 or 11. This is where you will need the transfer. Each route is wonderful.
Taxis are available as vans. It would cost about $50.00 one way.
The tickets will be available from the Post Office down at the dockyard. I have not purchased tickets at the Dockyard, but feel strong that a post office must be down there.
Happy planning!
Michael
