Question
My husband is disabled and uses a wheelchair, where can I take him without too much effort?  We will be docking at the Kings Wharf.

Answer
Don't feel limited! Docking at King's Wharf is great, it's in the Royal Naval Dockyard and everything is basically flat, so pushing a wheelchair, or if he has an electric one should be good. The Maritime Museum in Dockyard may be a little harder to navigate in, but otherwise everything is flat.
I hope you venture outside of Dockyard, and the best way to do that is by ferry. You can catch a ferry from Dockyard to the main city, Hamilton, in 20 minutes and they are completely wheelchair accessible. And when in Hamilton, there is an incline, but it's very long and if you start at one end, where the ferry drops you off, there shouldn't be a problem getting around. If it is electrical, it should be easy to venture all about Hamilton. If you have to push him, I would suggest you stay on Front Street, which is where most shopping and restaurants are anyways, so you'd enjoy yourself there.
If you wish to visit anywhere else on the island (beaches, sightseeing, etc) you can arrange for a taxi that is a little more wheelchair accessible. I know there are a couple who are wheelchair accessible. Also, taxi's, which are spacious and clean, are sometimes the best way to sightsee. You can do a taxi tour with almost any driver, if you mention that you'd wish a tour.
So, if you're docking for a whole day or more, I would suggest a morning in Dockyard at the Rum Cake Factory and the Glassworks Factory and other visits, then get a ferry to Hamilton and enjoy lunch on Front Street on our beautiful harbor. Then there are many taxi stands on Front Street where you can get a taxi driver to either give you a tour, or who can help get a wheelchair accessible taxi driver to give you a taxi tour. The tour is usually 2 hours, and the island is split into 2 sides. Dockyard is on the west side, so they can take you on a tour of the west side, which also has the best sightseeing with beaches etc. Then you will end up back in Dockyard.
I hope all this information was helpful! Fell free to reply with further questions.
