Question Greetings -
I am writing a short story set during prohibition in the US and am wondering how many days it would have taken to reach the Cape Cod area of the US from Bermuda by boat? Just a rough guess would be great. One day? Three days? A week? Does it make a difference if it is a sailboat or an old steamer? thank you so much!

Answer As a writer myself, I'm fascinated by your question Katrah. (Though it's a rare day when I write fiction, I appreciate your need to find an answer!) I'm not a cruiser, but I believe a reasonable cruise ship voyage to Bermuda from New England these days would be (and this is a conservative estimate) around 2 - 3 days. Each way. You bring up an interesting point, however, and that is, whether it takes longer for "an old steamer" than it does for a sailboat. Then, you have to wonder if the size of the sailboat makes a difference too. Here's what I would do: contact the folks at My Bermuda IV (a private charter yacht in Bermuda with which I have no affiliation). It would seem to me that the Captain might have an answer for you. Visit www.bermudaiv.com or call them at 441-232-7000. You might also contact the Bermuda Sailing Association at 441-295-5372. Again, I have no affiliation with either of these contacts, but they might be able to point you in the right direction if not answer your question themselves. Good Luck with your story! Nan
