Bermuda/Honymoon august 15th
Expert: Michael - 2/11/2011
QuestionHi Michael,
Myself and my Hubby to be are getting married in England early august so we re planning our honeymoon at the moment. I've always wanted to go to Bermuda and thought it would make a lovely honeymoon. However looking at reviews alot of people are talking about rain and hurricanes this at this time of year. Can you help...is it a bad time of year to go? Or are the rainy days just half an hour blasts of rain and thats it? We don't want to spend alot of money and it to be a waste!
Thanks
Amy
AnswerHi Amy,
You're looking at the right place. In my opinion Bermuda would be the very best. Especially for you in August if that is your selected time. Perfect! It never has failed Linda and I. And well wishes for you and your plans.
Forget about the reviews that depict hurricanes. The truth is that hurricane season runs May through November. This thinking would put the kibosh to the finest season of Bermuda and nobody would travel there from fear. August is divine. Just what you would think what a tropical vacation should be. Hot and humid. Sea and air temps will be in the 80's F. Everything will be in bloom. Oh, in keeping with that hurricane season thought ... how about the hurricane season in the Caribbean? That is 1000 miles or more to the south. Does anyone say don't visit the Caribbean and Bahama islands in the summer? Nope. Remember ... Bermuda is a tiny island in the North Atlantic 1500 miles or more from where they begin. Rarely do they cross the path of Bermuda. Linda and I have been going there for years and were on the island for a direct hit. Two others passed within 50 to 75 km. Again, rarely is there a hurricane in Bermuda. Plans should not take a hurricane into consideration. Chances are slim.
There is not a rain season in Bermuda. However, you have it right knowing that clouds pass over the island here and there. The Bermudians welcome it as it is a source of fresh water. June and October typically have more rain. Do not feel you'll be rained out in August. It usually doesn't happen. It really is a great time to visit the island Amy. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I am not a representative of the Bermuda Department of Tourism. Hehe. We are just very fond of Bermuda and love it. So will you. Most people who visit Bermuda return. Again, my opinion the high season is June, July, August, September and October.
Your money and time won't be waisted Amy. Plan on having a lovely time. Bermuda seems to be enchanted. The beaches are pink sand, the ocean is aqua marine color, it is well situated for seclusion and exploring (on a moped if you care.)
Enjoy. Write anytime.
Happy planning!
Michael
