Bermuda/Admiral and Cathedral caves

Question
Hello Nan,

I am visiting Bermuda with my girlfriend in 2 months and have heard about these caves. I visited the Crystal caves and such as a child, but am looking to experience the island privately, instead of with dozens of other tourists. Are the Admiral and Cathedral caves off limits or just not toured caves? If we brought a flashlight could we explore them or would that be illegal? We'd love to take a swim in a cave (non scuba).

Any other suggestions of caves on island or on the beaches? I've been in that tiny cave between Horseshoe and Prince Albert's Cove.

Thanks in advance! I'll be reading through all your past answers for some good ideas!

Answer
Hi Matt,

First, my apologies for the delay in this response. I'm very, very sorry I didn't see your query until now!!!

Secondly, because I don't have personal experience with these caves, I am planning several excursions to explore them during my next visit this summer so that I can answer questions like yours. Cathedral is near Grotto Bay and the other, Hamilton. They are off the beaten "tourist" track, which makes them appealing to me. Like you, I do love a private experience.

I can't wait! But, I'm sorry to say that I can't answer your question until I return in July. YIKES!

I'll be certain to ask my taxi driver about the caves when I arrive. Taxi drivers are great sources of local information. You might do the same when you arrive.

Thanks for your great question and your patience.
