Bermuda/Beaches

Question
We will be staying in St George on a cruise ship next week.  Last year we traveled to Horseshoe Bay and it was great but we were hoping to find something closer. Do you know if John Smith's Bay Beach rents chairs and/or umbrellas?  Overall, how does John Smith compare to Horseshoe Bay.

Answer
Hi Bernie,

Lucky you ... Bermuda again ... and next week.  Who-ahh!

John Smith's does not rent chairs.  However, artists find it attractive and it is given the distinction of the most painted spot on the southshore.  John Smiths is much closer too.  Unlike Horseshoe and the streatch of beaches linked to it you cannot seemingly find yourself endlessly waling at John Smiths.  But beautiful nevertheless.

If you are firm on chairs and umbrellas you can go to Elbow and for a modest fee rent them there.  It is not as far as Horseshoe but down that way.

Another op is to visit Grotto Bay.  They offer a lovely beach with chairs and umbrellas for guests.  I doubt they would bother you as unregistered guests.  Their beach is in Castle Harbour, definately tidal but protected from surf.  Oneday you may even stay there.

Happy planning!
Michael
