Bermuda/Bermuda Basics

Question
My husband and I will be going to Bermuda June 20th-24th and staying at the Southampton Princess.  It is his first trip and my second (last time was 1982 so my wants and needs were very basic back then!).  Our package comes complete with hotel transfers.  In past vacations I found tranfers to take up alot of time.  Do you suggest just taking a cab to the hotel and about how much should we expect to pay?

Answer
Hello Gina,

You have nice taste.  The Southampton will give you all the bells and whistles.

I have found that transfers are not necessary.  Taxi's are plentiful when you exit the airport at Kindley Field.  My best guess is that a taxi would run $30 to $35 one way which will pay for both of you.  If you have a transfer the taxi is prepaid for.  That's all.  You are really paying in your package.

The hotel will have a special taxi or van waiting for you as you exit the airport.  It may be such that several couples will be headed to the SHP and go with you.  Here is where the hotel may make a couple of dollars, but not much.  That is to say they will pay for one trip, not for six people if that is how many are in the van.

I suggest letting it go.  Keep it in your package.  But you will have to tip the driver either way.

June is a beautiful time to go.

Happy planning!
