Question
Hi Michael,

1. I am planning to go to Bermuda with 2 kids in mid Feb. Will be able to jump in the ocean and enjoy the weather or will it be too cold to enjoy the water in Feb?

2. Can you suggest which particular place in Bermuda to go for superb snorkling and some good hiking.

Thanks

Answer
Hello AJ,

The ocean temps will not be condusive for frollicking in the water.

But a suberb destination for exploring and enjoying the delight of Bermuda would be the southshore beaches.

I would suggest getting off the bus at Warrwick Long Bay and walking down to the beach. (Of course you would have by now a Handy Reference Map)  Walk that streatch of several beaches all the way to Horseshoe Bay.  Linda and I do this each time we visit Bermuda.  You will pass several beaches including Jobson's Cove, Stonehole, a few others and end at Horseshoe.  Not a great distance.  Less than a mile or three quarters.

At Horseshoe Bay you can walk up and either take the bus again outboud a stop or walk to Gibs Hill Lighthouse and walk to the top. Simply ask the driver to stop there. A breathtaking view of the entire island chain will be observed.

If you were to snorkle Tobacco Bay at the other end of the island would do you well.  Colorful and picturesque.  But I think it will be too cool for you to snorkel.

BTW, purchase a pass for the bus system to save loads of money.

Do not be opposed to going into pubs with the kids for say a lunch.  You will find them all over the island.  Several in Hamilton, the Swizzle Inn, the White Horse, the Cork and Feather etc.

Happy planning!
Michael
