Bermuda/Hotels
Expert: Michael - 1/6/2003
QuestionMy husband and I are planning a vacation to Bermuda in the summmer (2003). I don't even know where to begin to look for the perfect hotel. We'd like an oceanfront view, quiet, mostly adults, with sandy beaches and a great pool. What would you suggest?
AnswerDear Paige,
There are several or perhaps even many seaside resorts that would meet your requirements and expectations wonderfully.
Let me jump in and tell you that the summer months will be outright unbelievable. The scents and flora will be abundant. The island will be alive in color.
As to perfection of a hotel let me share with you a good starting point. There is a group of small hotels and cottage colonies (our favorites) that have the distinction of being titled "The Bermuda Collection." You would be happy at any. They are, and allow me to put them in order of my wife's preference, although once you get online and are wowed by them you may be drawn to a cottage colony having seven private beaches, or one secluded with a backdrop of volacanic rock, or a beach wide open to the sea. They are all located on the infamous southshore having pink sanded beaches and breath taking views. Each will give you a truly Bermudan experiance which is personable, relaxing, and refreshing of the mind and body. They each will have the best of the best in food and preparation. The Bermuda Collection also offers a Dine Around Plan where you may select having dinner at any of the others in the collection. But it may be difficult to do that, seemingly taking a chance after enjoying your first exquisite dinner at the resort you finally select.
The Reef's (highest come back rate)
Cambridge Beaches (secluded & perhaps the furthest from towen, but not a big deal)
Pomapano (best sunset I ever seen in Bermuda from there lounge)
Stonington (Great expanse of beach, immediately next to Elbow)
Ariel Sands (Ownen and operated by the Dill family, Michael douglas's mom. He owns 51%)
Pink Beach Club (Who-ahh!)
Paige, what can I tell you? I could tell you that these places may be a bit high in cost to bring children. (That's a plus.) But Bermuda is on the expensive side anyway and not many kids are around.
All of the above are ocean front, quiet, mosly adults, pink sand beaches and outstanding pools. Linda would give her right arm to go to The Reefs.
I've carried on a bit much and hope I helped you. So once you select your resort don't second guess your selection. Bermuda is enchanted.
Ohn one last thing, each have there own website (find them at www.google.com) but can also be accessed from the Bermuda Department of Tourism's site. www.bermudatourism.com or call them at (800)BERMUDA and ask them for their Where To Stay brochure.
Happy planning!
Michael
