Question
Hi Michael,
I am on a Costa cruise April 22-29, arriving in Bermuda on April 25th and be there for 3 days.  I have children aged 12 and 7.  My son likes to snorkel and I'd like to get my daughter in the water as well...any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Dee.

My understanding is that the Costa Magica makes port harborside in Hamilton.

Jumping on Bus No. 7 will take you to the Southshore where all the famed pink beaches are.  Ask the driver to drop you off at Church Bay.  It is a beautiful beach with lots of living coral and colorful fish.  It would not be necessary to snorkel far from shore to enjoy the abundance of undersea life.

It will be necessary to pickup a Transportation Schedule to see departure times and return route times.  The bus system is dependable and functional.  You can get just about anywhere you would want to visit while in Bermuda utilizing the bus.

If you take the bus to St. George, a short 10-15 minute walk away is Tobacco Bay.  The bay will be shallow and protected for your daughter.  A bit further out where the bay meets the ocean the snorkeling is good.  It is an interesting area too, as there are many outcrops of volcanic structures rising above the surface.

If you pickup a Handy Reference Map you can easily find your way around the island.  Request a copy from the Bermuda Department of tourism (800-BERMUDA), or wait to get one off the ship.

Do enjoy your cruise and Bermuda.

Happy planning!
Michael
