Question
Planning a short visit to Bermuda and wondering about hurricanes and uncomfortable weather at that time of the year.  Thanks for your comments.

Answer
Hi Grant,

First week of October is a nice time of year.  The weather is excellent.  Ocean and air temps are perfect for frolicking in the sea and whatever summertime activities you enjoy.

The multi year weather mean shows that October averages a bit more rain.  However, my experience is that I've never been "rained out" in all the years we selected October as our time to visit.  Matter of fact, the week that Columbus Holiday falls we must have vacationed at least ten times.

Grant, hurricanes should never be a factor in planning a Bermuda vacation.  Hurricane season runs June through November.  Hurricanes may hit Florida or the U.S. southeastern seaboard more often than Bermuda.  Would you not visit WDW because of the threat, or Key West?

Over some thirty yearly visits to Bermuda we were on the island for one hurricane (Fabian) and one other that drifted by 75NM.  The island authorities will give ample warning to leave if you care to.  Cruise ships would depart early.

Over all, Grant, October is a very comfortable time of year to visit Bermuda.  Don't hesitate.

Happy planning!
Michael
