Bermuda/Romantic Spot
Expert: Michael - 1/16/2007
QuestionHello, my girlfriend and I are planning a cruise to bermuda in july. When we are there I was planning to propose to her. I need some help doing it right in bermuda. My question is where should I go on the island to do this. I am thinking in the evening when the sun is setting, and something that is private so that we can be alone for a little bit so I can ask her to marry me. I was also thinking something on the water would be nice also, but it does not have to be. Also if there is a cost to go somewhere that is fine also. Please e-mail me back to let me know of where you think are good places that would make this a special moment. Also if there are website that I can look at or places I would need to caontact please let me know. Thank you for your time and help.
AnswerHi Andrew,
I recently responded to a like inquiry. Somehow it didn't get posted, but the person requesting the info received my answer and commented accordingly.
Because the sun sets in the west seeking a place to view it is a good inquiry.
Anyway, if your ship docks at Ordinance Island or Penno's Wharf, both in St. George, you will be close to a nice beach that will offer a quiet serene sunset. Achilles Bay. Achilles Bay is next to Fort St. Catherine. It is a five or seven minute moped ride from the town, or a few minutes by taxi. Just above the beach is Blackbeard's Hideaway, a small restaurant/pub where you could sit and enjoy a rum swizzle or "pint of courage" on their outdoor patio. You could see the sunset here too.
I have seen the sun set from this vantage point. The beach will be quiet, yet you will not be far off from other people. Taxi's would be available.
If you make port on the west end at H.M. Dockyard a moped ride or bus #7 to Gibbs Hill Lighthouse would give you a great perspective of Bermuda and it's sunset from the top.
Also, the lounge at the Pompano Beach Club has a very nice sunset. Here too would be accessible by moped or bus #7. There would be a little bit of a walk down the roadway entrance to Pompano. I would recommend a moped or taxi with this selection.
You may see non-professional pictures of Bermuda sunsets and other things of Bermuda interest at the following website. www.bermudashorts.bm Here visitors post their vacation photo's and they are somewhat categorized.
If one of your stops is St. George, my choice would be Achilles Bay for that special moment.
Happy planning!
